Impossible Operas is a wild, whimsical journey through some of opera’s strangest and silliest plots—reimagined with daring creativity, clever humor, and stunning visuals. Created and directed by Jill Anna Ponasik, Jeffrey Mosser, and Brian Rott, this bold production by Milwaukee Opera Theatre blends music by Handel, Wagner, Mozart, and more with shadow puppetry, surreal storytelling, and a cabaret-style wedding reception hosted by Bluebeard himself. With a powerhouse cast of seven singers and live low-tech animation by Anja Notanja Sieger, Impossible Operas transforms high opera into a playful, thought-provoking spectacle that embraces the absurd—and makes it unforgettable.
